Oh yeah...the lobster!

I almost forgot:

While in Montreal I ate lobster for the first time in my life!
Lobster in Germany is very expenisve. Same as oysters.
I know that Montreal isn't probably the prototype Canadian
city to have lobster.
But on Wil's 33rd birthday I gave it a shot.

My résumé:

A big mess for a small amount of meat.
The meat was good. But not perfect.
Could have been more tender.
Digging for the lobster meat felt a bit like going on a Easter egg hunt.
So that was fun.
The next time I eat lobster it will have to be a bigger one.
And boiled not broiled!

Schwartz's Smoked Meat Sandwich

After more than a week of not having internet access at home
I'm finally able to post more culinary impressions of my first
trip to Montreal.
On the last day me and Wil went to Schwartz's on Saint-Laurent,
the oldest deli in Canada (since 1928).
They are famous for their smoked meat.
Each of us got a big chunk of finest sliced medium fatty beef,
served with mustard and between two tiny slices of white bread.
And yes, it was delicious!
The meat was juicy, tender and very flavourful....
But the smell of this place, supposedly the smell of smoked
beef, definitely is something I need to get used too.
Quite intense.
At least the dogs we were staying with liked it.
They kept sniffing and even licking (!) our pants when we
got back home.
